We have some news...

Well, well, well…

So much has happened since we wrote our first blog…

Perth Game Festival (usually happens near the end of November) has been moved forward to the 11th of September… WHICH IS NOW IN 4 WEEKS!

We now have four weeks to playtest, bug fix, polish, do all our marketing and PR, and not have mental breakdowns… WE GOT THIS!

Here is some of the things that the members of Powersink have been working on this week!

Hey there again everyone, it's Luke, This week has been an interesting one that’s for sure. On Monday the team was informed that the Perth Games Festival we were going to be presenting our games at wasn’t in November as we had believed, it was now in mid-September. Suffice to say everyone had to take a minute to process our timeline shrinking by more than half. In the interest of presenting at PGF, this week I have worked on 3 main things. The first being a shader to make the light cones look more realistic (faded edges and such using a Fresnel based shader), the second being working on learning & making a rig for our diver character so it can be properly animated before the festival. Finally, I have been working on getting 3D printed figurines for marketing materials. The Diver figure is probably my favourite thing that I’ve worked on this week as its such an amazing, tangible representation of the last 5 months of work. That’s all from me for this week, thanks for checking in!

As you can see, Luke has been hard at work this week, making our game polished and even working on some little models for Perth Game Festival. Triston has also been pushing forward in creating some really cool particle effects into the game that look stunning! I'll let him explain more about what he's been up to this week!

Hey guys its ya boi again, Triston. So just found out that the Perth’s Game Festival is in 4 weeks, and I’m not too stressed out about it, if anything I’m more stressed out on the fact that I’m growing more white hair. Being an adult sucks. Anyways, on to what I did for this week for our game. This time, instead of 3D modelling, I was placed in the role of a tech artist, and my job was to add particle effects to our game which included air bubbles for our diver, water currents and electricity for our electric trap. It was pretty easy to design and implement once you got the hang of the Unity particle tool, but I’ll be working more on adding different particle effects when I get the chance. Any who, hope the person that reads this has a beautiful day and I’ll update you on what happens next week.

Triston has been very hard at work this week in getting those particle effects looking amazing for the festival coming up!

Zhara, our test lead, has been prepping for Perth Game Festival in the testing department, but I'll let her explain more into what she's been doing this week.

Hi, it's Zhara! I've just been working on some feedback forms for Perth Game Festival that's coming up soon, and that's about it.

Zhara, as mentioned before, is our test lead so it's her vital role that helps us get the statistics and data to help improve and polish Powersink so it can be the best we can make it.

Anyways, last but not least, is myself! Tash!

So this week I worked on finishing the fish sprites for our particle fish effect we want to implement into unity. Been a little frazzled this week with the festival being so close and all the other assignments coming up really fast too. This week I've also been looking into business cards, creating concepts for our game poster, and also figuring out how to create 2D animated sprites in unity and writing this blog! Anyways that's pretty much what I've been working on this week, it's been crazy hectic, stay tuned to hear more as we lead up to the festival!

Here's my little concepts for the fish :')

Well... our big news is, yes, the Perth Game Festival has been moved forward, are we stressed? Maybe a little... But we are very confident in what we have created so far thanks to the combined efforts of everyone in the Kitchen Sink Team. We hope that you will be able to join us at Perth Game Festival on the 11th of September! We would love to see you all there and catch up more in person than through this blog! :D

We appreciate every single one of you who have taken time out of your day to read this blog and, as Triston said before, we hope you have a beautiful day and stay tuned for the upcoming blogs as we prepare for Perth Game Festival in four weeks!

Thanks Guys!

Team Kitchen Sink
