It's been a busy week!
Hey Everyone!
Wow... what a week we've had! From learning on Monday that a few things for Perth Game Festival were due Thursday at midnight, to placing new upgrades into the game such as particle effects and textures, and sorting out and planning some cool ideas for our booth at PGF! It's been crazy hectic lately but we've been persevering through to polish our game and create some really cool content for the upcoming festival :D
I'll now let some of the team members update y'all on the things they have been working on this week! Starting with our tech lead and co-marketing and PR lead... Zhara!
Hoi hoi! This week I've been working on some PR stuff! So social media over on Twitter, planning out how the raffle and stall is going to look on the day (we're going to have a raffle! How fancy!) and other little tidbits. We're all revving up for PGF right now, and despite how much of a jump scare the change of date was, I'm really looking forward to the day! I'm so hyped to see both cool local games from gave developers from all over Perth and the games fellow Murdoch Uni peers have made too. We've all put in so much hard work to make our games succeed, so seeing everyone's efforts and letting people see what we here at Powersink have been working on tirelessly will be so rewarding. Anyway, ill update you guys on what I'm doing during break week! Mwah :o) - Zhara
Thanks Zhara! Looks like you've had quite a busy yet very productive week! Now we will hear from Triton and what he's been up to this week regarding game particle effects.
Hello world! You guys are probably wondering what I’ve been up to since last week. Well to tell you the truth it’s just been more particle effects for our game. This time, I worked on adding the explosion particles for our game, torpedo trail particles, dust particles and fish particles. When I did try to add the fish particles however, it did not look very good as it was too distracting to look at and was very 2D like. Instead, ill have to work on thinking of a new way to add fishes to the game using boids. The explosion particle is nearly done, just need to polish it up more and it will be good to go. The PGF is coming up soon, so pretty excited to show what we made since it looks amazing. I look forward to seeing y'all! - Triton
Wow, these look amazing Triton! Love the torpedo trails and the little bubbles. Next up we have Luke, he's gonna be chatting about how he's feeling regarding PGF and some things he has been very busy with this week.
Hello there, It’s been quite the week so far and I honestly can’t wait for all we have done to be shown off. I myself have continued work on the Diver Rig, adding the upper body joints, skinning, and lots of weight painting. With the rig nearly complete, we will soon be able to make our custom animations along with finally getting the textured asset into the game that we’ve sort of been sitting on for a couple months. In addition to the rig, this week I have also been working on general game feel improvements, I fixed a couple of bugs found in the play testing, reworked UI, made a brand-new level selection level & worked on some screenshots for our sign up to the Perth Games Festival. That’s pretty much all from me this week. Have a good one and keep an eye out for more dev stuff coming soon! - Luke
Cheers Luke! Sounds like a very productive week dedicated to our little diver fellow!
And finally, I'll just chat about stuff that I've been working on this week. I've definitely been up to quite a lot this week, from writing this blog that your reading right now, to creating our poster (in two days!) for Perth Game Festival, and planning some cool ideas for our booth! It's been quite a stressful week but I'm really looking forward to PGF and showcasing our game that we've all worked really hard on I'm also really excited to see what other games are on display and to meet some new people and make some new friends! Anyways that pretty much all for now but stay tuned as we are getting closer and closer to PGF everyday! - Tash
