We've come a LONG way!

Hello Everyone!

What a crazy week we've had, we are now in a little bit of a 'push' zone with the game so that's finishing off certain effects, or the rig, or some models for the Perth Game Festival. Everyone has been working very hard this week to make sure we keep our goal of finishing by the 11th of September for PGF!

I have to admit... we are in such a good position at the moment with Powersink that a little of the stress has died down, it's more based on our booth now and what we want displayed on the day of the festival :)

Anyways, let's hear what some of the members of Kitchen Sink have been up to this week!

Hey guys, it's Luke! So this week has been rather busy for me and I've somehow managed to work on 3 main things. I implemented some functionality in the torpedoes allowing them to explode using Triston’s new explosion particle effects. I have also continued working on the Diver Rig, having added IK/FK switches, controls for most of the important joints and started work on the FK controls (which are giving me issues at the moment). The coolest thing that I’ve worked on this week was probably the new 3D prints I have been organising with a friend. We now have 5 resin printed diver figures and a Power Orb print. As a little final note, I would like to say that we’ve gotten to the point where looking back on how far we’ve come has become just insanely rewarding. I’m really proud of how far we’ve come and I can’t wait to see everyone play our game.

Wow that's really awesome Luke! It's so cool to see how far our game has progressed this year from being in a development/planning stage to almost being a finished polished game! Now we will hear from Triton and what he's been up to this week.

Hello friends, it's Triton! This week I have not done much if any at all sadly. The reason being was that I had to finish off two assignments and worst part is, is that it's during study break week. Also, as I am writing this I am sick so that’s also not very cool. The only work I kinda did for our game project this week was modelling a high poly version of our power orb to 3D print but I did not have enough time to finish it so I had to pass on that job to Luke. I do have to say though the best part about developing this game was seeing my 3D model of our Diver come to life both in game and through a 3D print which did put a smile on my face. So for those interested in 3D modelling, I ain't gonna lie, it can be tough but the results are soooo worth it in my eyes. Once I finish off my assignments, I will be working a lot more on our game for the upcoming Perth’s Game Festival so until then I hope y'all have an awesome week!

That's all good Triton! Hope your other assignments went well and well done for starting the high poly version of our power orb, I've also enjoyed seeing your 3D model get printed into a physical model!

Zhara, our test lead, has been very busy this week creating mock-ups of the surveys we will be handing out at PGF. They're looking good and we are keen to keep updating them and prepping them for the Festival.

And finally we will hear from me, Tash!

So, this week was sort of a break week for me, apart from doing other assignments and  writing this blog of course! I needed to have a week where I wasn't too stressed out just for mental health reasons.  But next week will be back on the grind for PGF so looking forward to getting more planning and work done for it!  The best thing about making a game, like Powersink, in my opinion, is the people you get to work with and the skills everyone puts in, it brings people together and helps motivation and creativity grow.

So as you've heard from team Kitchen Sink, this week has been very busy in certain areas of the Powersink production and also busy outside of this unit. We are all keen to get back to uni after this break week and get cracking on the last few pieces of Powersink before the festival, which is now in two weeks!

We are all very excited to see you all and let you guys playtest our game which we've all worked very hard on!

Can't wait to see you guys at PGF and hope you all have had amazing weeks!

Thanks Guys, much love!

Team Kitchen Sink
